[Monday Models] Daria Strokous

Daria Strokous has a seriously Twiggy thing going on. But it's working for her since she's currently ranked #6 on the Top 50 Models List!

This blue-eyed blonde Russian model is a favorite for top fashion houses, such as Dior, where she has participated in several campaigns since 2013.

She got her start modeling professionally in 2007 at age 16, so she's had plenty of time to work her way up the ladder.

A fun fact about Daria is that she moved to Benin as an infant and lived there with her family until age 5, when she moved back to her native Russia.

Check out what Daris has been up to recently...

[Street Art Sundays] Pejac

Pejac is a fantastic artist from Spain who also dedicates some time to street art. His work is intelligent and usually has societal meaning behind it. I am utterly impressed with the details and depth, even though it really is just simple stenciling.

You can find more of his work on his website:

Paper Artwork by Cheong-ah Hwang

I have a strange fascination with paper artwork. Because it is a simple, every day material, I find it to be so incredible what artists can make from it.

Cheong-ah Hwang was born in Korea and moved to the United States in 1992. She studied fine art at Ohio State University and started working with paper sculptures in 2000.

Her work, to me, is perfection. She has a large collection, so I highly recommend that you check out her website here:

[Fashion Fridays] Halston Heritage Resort 2015

This Halston Heritage Resort 2015 collection created by Marie Mazelis and Ben Malka is full of beautiful fabrics.

For being a typical Halston Heritage conservative collection, you won't find anything mind-blowing. However, I think the twist on the classics and the excellent use of fabrics made for a very nice collection.

What's your take?

[Tuesday Tattoos] Chaim Machlev

I am obsessed with these tattoos from Chaim Machlev of Germany (specifically, Berlin). The geometry, the symmetry, the pattern. It's amazing.

You can see more of his work on his website here.

[Monday Models] Fei Fei Sun

Yay for asian models! Fei Fei Sun is a Chinese model who has been professionally modeling since 2009. Now at 25 years old she is currently ranked #12 on the Top 50 Models List.

Fei Fei is also studying fashion design in Shanghai at Suzhou University.

Her personality is super sweet and a bit shy, but don't let her fool you. Her walk and photos are full of personality and sass!

[Street Art Sundays] Globepainter

Julien "Seth" Malland is a fascinating street artist from France. His work is very intellectual, critical, and gives us a new way to look at the world.

He frequently uses similar images of children to reflect the culture in the country where he is working. Some of his images are flat-out strange and weird, but so is the mind of a true artist. :)

[Fashion Fridays] Diane von Furstenberg Resort 2015

Although these photos are way more airbrushed/photoshopped/bad contrast than I would prefer (possibly on purpose, since it's so obvious?), Diane von Furstenberg still put out a great collection for Resort 2015.

I love the nod back to the 1970's!

Zaria Forman's Incredible Pastel Drawings

I am enamored by Zaria Forman's vibrant pastel drawings of landscapes and water. Pastels are my personal favorite medium and Zaria's work shows the dynamism of the tool.

She has an amazing portfolio which invites you to fall into the deepness of her art. I've included photos below from her two most recent projects in Greenland (2012) and The Maldives (2013). For more info on Zaria, check out Artsy's page on her here, which is chock-full of good information: Artsy’s Zaria Forman page

Zaria is incredibly gifted and I'm excited to see what her next project will be!

[Tuesday Tattoos] Michelle Madison

I will admit, I can't understand why anyone would ask for some of these designs from Michelle Madison. They certainly aren't on my "favorites" list, BUT Michelle is an amazing artist and pays attention to the tiniest of details.

At least the quality of the artwork is spectacular, even if the design itself is a bit strange (in my opinion)...

Michelle is located in the UK, so give her a shout if you like her work!

[Monday Models] Bette Franke

Bette Franke was born to model. Her Dutch genes lined up perfectly for her to be a star on the catwalk and in our advertising-obsessed world. Need I say more?

She was discovered by a modelling agent while shopping with her mom at age 14. She debuted in the Spring 2006 season (age 17) and since then has walked in all the top shows and has gained numerous top fashion advertising contracts as well.

One of the special things about Bette is how down to earth, "real", and natural she is. She also just got married in the fall of 2013 to her beau of over 3 years. :)

Check out what Bette has been up to recently...

[Street Art Sundays] Icy and Sot

Here's a brother duo from Iran whose main street art form is stenciling. Icy and Sot (29 and 23 years old) create works about war, peace, hope, despair, society issues and human rights. They currently live in New York City, but have created artwork all over the world.

I love artwork which has societal meaning behind it, so naturally, these guys are some of my favorites. Check out their latest work...

Bethann Hardison's Work in Model Diversity

Bethann Hardison is a strong woman of influence who has used her network to help the minorities of the world push through the glass ceiling in fashion and modelling.

Bethann was a model in the 1970's who turned into a modelling agent.

I loved reading this interview with her from (link below). Though she brings up a great point at the end - there is currently no one else in the industry who has the relationships and is willing to lobby so hard for minorities. Who will step up? It's too important to let this fall by the wayside!

[Fashion Fridays] BCBG Max Azria Resort 2015

I hope to God that these shoes do not catch on. They are uglier than sin (as my mom would say).

Otherwise, the rest of BCBG's Resort 2015 collection was beautiful!

Incredible Paper Flowers by Papel SF

I am blown away! Look at these amazing paper flowers!

Created BY HAND (duh) by Tiffanie Turner in San Francisco, USA. Her company is appropriately titled papel SF.

Lauren of Honestly WTF notes:

It takes thirty five to eighty hours for Tiffanie Turner, of PapelSF, to layer over 1,000 crepe paper petals to create her life sized flowers, which range from 23″ -26″ in diameter. Her peonies, marigolds, asters, chrysanthemums, and dahlias part of an exhibition called “Heads” and are on display at Rare Device in San Francisco.

Kordal Knitwear

Ohhh these knits are so beautiful. You usually think of knits during the winter time, with sweaters. But Kordal Knitwear totally challenges those ideas!

Take a look at Mandy Kordal's lovely Spring 2014 collection, made in the USA...

[Tattoo Tuesdays] Vladimír Franz

This man, Vladimír Franz, is incredibly intriguing to me.

He tattooed his entire body, basically to change his skin color to be a dark blue.

Sure, lots of people have full body tattoos and tattoos on their face or head. But this guy, Mr. Franz, ran for president in the Czech Republic in 2013. Wow, talk about messing with stereotypes!

Mr. Franz is deeply artistic musically. He has a law degree, but has made a career out of teaching music at the university level.

Here are some more pictures of his fascinating tattoos:

[Monday Models] Kasia Struss

Kasia Struss is an "older" Polish model (26 years old) who started modelling when she was 17. She is currently ranked #34 in's Top 50 Models ranking.

I love Kasia's personality, first of all. Ok, obviously I don't know her personally, but you can get a vibe of a person through videos. :) She seems relaxed and fun, with a bit of daring thrown in.

Her biggest asset is her square jaw line. Also, her walk is flawless, in my opinion.

Check out what Kasia's been up to lately...

[Street Art Sundays] My Dog Sighs

My Dog Sighs (what's his real name??) is a UK artist who has just recently gained international fame. I love his reuse of tin cans to make beautiful and interesting art. Check out his outdoor work!

[Fashion Fridays] Altuzarra Resort 2015

Altuzarra's Resort 2015 isn't resort at all, in my opinion. It should be renamed to Professional Wear 2015.

However, it was a beautiful professional wear collection. And that's why I'm showcasing it here.

If I were still working in the professional industry, I would be all over these clothes. They are conservative and classic, with enough hint of modern and sexy to make you get noticed. I really really love this collection.

[Tuesday Tattoos] Jonny Breeze

These black and white tattoos by Jonny Breeze are fantastic. His symmetrical designs are super intricate and perfect. He also specialises in covering up old tattoos.

His shops are in London and Brighton, if you're ever in that area!

[Monday Models] Nadja Bender

Today's model is Nadja Bender, from Denmark.

Nadja has a cool story because she actually started modelling pretty late, at age 21 (in 2012). She was studying nanotechnology, chemistry and physics at university when her neighbour called a modelling agent for her and she immediately jumpstarted her career.

Now just two years into her professional modelling career, she is ranked #25 on the Top 50 Models Ranking. Wow! She also secured the Spring/Summer 2014 face of Fendi. Not bad...

It's really not difficult to see why she skyrocketed to stardom. She is everything one looks for in a model - tall, thin, healthy womanly build, full lips, facial structure, etc. etc. Gorgeous!

She looks similar to Cindy Crawford, right?

Here is what Nadja has been up to recently...

[Street Art Sundays] Nikita Nomerz

One thing I love about street art is the creativity that one can find by everyday things.

Nikita Nomerz, of Russia, is the type of person who delights in the everyday. He turns ordinary structures into fun and imaginative "beings". Check out some of his work below...
